CAST IRON – GRAY AND DUCTILE

Cast iron castings are a core part of PSP Italia’s production. For over 35 years, we have been manufacturing components in gray iron (EN-GJL) and ductile iron (EN-GJS), designed to deliver high mechanical performance, durability and reliability across a wide range of industrial applications.

All castings can be supplied as-cast or machined, with optional heat treatments (normalizing, annealing, quenching and tempering) and non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic (UT), magnetic particle (MT) and dye penetrant (PT) inspections, along with chemical analysis and mechanical testing.
All materials are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 certificates and full batch traceability.

Gray iron (EN-GJL)

Gray iron is valued for its excellent compressive strength and dimensional stability, as well as its vibration damping capacity. These properties make it ideal for components requiring structural stability and precision, such as machine bases and load-bearing parts.
It also offers excellent machinability and a strong performance-to-cost ratio.
Common grades: EN-GJL-150, EN-GJL-200, EN-GJL-250, EN-GJL-300.

Ductile iron (EN-GJS)

Ductile iron combines high resilience and ductility with strong mechanical strength, making it ideal for components subjected to dynamic or cyclic loading.
It provides an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and high fatigue resistance, ensuring reliable performance even in demanding conditions.
Common grades: EN-GJS-400-15, EN-GJS-500-7, EN-GJS-600-3, EN-GJS-700-2.
